Thought for food

The School of Food Biosciences (SFB) at The University of Reading – one of the world’s leading Food Science and Technology departments – has joined forces with the Food Technology Hub.

Food Technology Hub Director Simon Dale commented, “Bringing in the School as a partner enables us to offer direct contact with academics working on the technical side of the food industry and opens the door to small to medium sized companies looking for both long and short-term projects addressing issues in these areas. Members of the Food Hub now have access to the world class pilot plant facilities at SFB (with equipment worth over £3.5 million) as well as those already provided by Leatherhead Food International.

Professor K Niranjan, Director of Enterprise at SFB, said, “We see this new relationship as helping us to stimulate, encourage and support the development of commercial relationships with the potential to benefit the University, its staff and students. We also see this as one way in which the University can play a full role in the development of the knowledge economy regionally, nationally and internationally.”
