MARINE: Smartcom Software Ltd
Southampton Enterprise Hub client Smartcom Software specialises in software and systems for mobile communications and navigation systems. They have been involved in R&D projects for the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Galileo Joint Undertaking, as well as offering a range of off-the-shelf software products.
Smartcom MD Tim Thornton commented, “The Hub has helped us develop the business and clarify the direction we want to take, both through discussions with Hub Director Steve Davis, and also with ongoing support from Dave Pollard, our mentor through the Merlin scheme. We are starting to talk to Finance South East about raising additional finance and we are also involved in a bid for SEEDA’s Intelligent Transportation Systems project.”
The Southampton Enterprise Hub has been working with Smartcom for the last two years. Steve Davis commented “Smartcom has benefited from the Hub Merlin Mentor Programme and has joined the Solent Marine Community, the Hub managed programme supporting Solent marine industries.”
