Universal Chemical Sensor
Analysing a substance quickly can sometimes mean the difference between a routine day for the emergency services or a life and death situation. This is the challenge that Eastbourne Hub client ZiNIR has overcome.
ZiNIR’s universal chemical sensor uses near infrared analysis to enable the detection and identification of a wide variety compounds by non-scientists in the field. It works across a wide spectral range with good resolution, yet is small enough to be held in one hand. Needing no specialist scientific knowledge – the probe is simply pointed at the query subject and an answer is provided within minutes – the device will allow a wide range of professions access to lab quality analysis in the field in seconds rather than hours.
