Classified advertising is on the move

MobiyaCMYKhighres

Aylesbury Vale Enterprise Hub client Mobiya’s revolutionary approach to selling classified advertising is set to launch in the UK after successful trials in Europe.

Classified advertisements are big business, generating billions of pounds of revenue for the UK’s regional and national newspapers, specialist magazines and web publishers. It’s into this market that Aylesbury Vale Hub client Mobiya, having already successfully piloted its Mobile Classifieds advertising system in Belgium, is set to launch in the UK.

Mobiya allows a consumer to use a mobile phone to create and list a classified advertisement using SMS and MMS. The advertiser’s mobile number is hidden and the advertisements are then published in newspapers, magazines and on the internet. People wishing to respond to an advertisement simply text a unique advert code over SMS to unlock the classified advertisement and receive the advertisers contact details. Advertisers also get real time feedback over SMS about potential buyers.

Martin Davis, CEO says “Our B2B platform is ready-made for newspaper publishers and internet portals to offer an appealing and exciting mobile user experience without them having to manage the cost and complexity of rapidly evolving mobile technology. Our media customers generate bottom line profits by capturing new revenue streams and reaching a new mobile and technology-fluent audience”.

Aylesbury Vale Enterprise Hub Director Martin Brassell commented, “Mobiya’s rapid progress over the past year is a tribute to its highly effective management team and the strong market appeal of the concept; it makes classified advertising fit for the 21st century.”

Mobiya launched early in 2006 with the founders funding the business startup, and received Angel funded in January 2007. It is currently reconfiguring to be VCT qualifying, and is now seeking its first round of institutional funding, to enable it to continue technical development and grow its management team and customer base in the UK.
